"More Funding, More Space, and Less Red Tape"

Happy end of classes!

As promised, it's survey results time. The title of the post refers to the most common comment we received on our surveys--though we did also receive a significant amount of specific comments and constructive criticism in addition to that general sentiment (thanks again for taking the time to answer thoughtfully!). I can't imagine that there would be anyone who disagrees with that sentiment, and I suppose that one of the goals of keeping this blog is to keep ABC groups updated as to how ABC is seeking to make improvements within those imposed confines--but also as to what we're trying to do to overcome some of those limitations.

By addressing the most general and pressing concerns we gathered from the surveys (listed below), we hope that we will also be working towards addressing the greater sentiment. We plan to discuss each of the following concerns separately in the coming weeks on this blog, but for now, here are the biggest things we heard:

1) There was an overwhelming call for increased ABC communication: more ABC outreach, greater transparency, more rep interaction with groups, and overall ABC visibility and responsiveness.

2) In a similar vein, there were many calls for increased opportunity for collaboration and interaction between similar groups, facilitated by ABC. Groups also asked for a better system to advertise ABC club events.

3) Another equally big concern was the slow speed of financial processing and reimbursements.

4) Space/UEM: quicker response times, stream-lined process, more clarity, more efficient method of allocating space (and ensuring space doesn't go to waste).

5) Increased availability of SDA/OMA advisers (more office hours).

6) Longer list of local vendors.

That's all for now, but look for more posts in coming days. Best of luck with finals!
